The woman is charged with "Theft by a Public Servant." An arrest warrant affidavit states University police set up a motion-activated camera inside a conference room where employees reported several sodas had turned up missing.

According to investigators, the camera captured video of the woman using keys to enter the locked conference room around 9:30 p.m. on February 22nd. They say the video shows the 56-year-old woman walking to where the sodas are kept, pulling out a trash bag from her pocket, and taking two plastic bottled sodas into the bag. The arrest warrant affidavit states the video then shows her turning off the lights and walking out of the room.

The woman was released Tuesday night on a personal recognizance bond.

This aint squat. An SAISD bus driver took, i mean stole! my daughters scooter from my frot lawn. After a neighbor of ours saw her, he contacted us,and we immediately reported her. She was caught red handed with the scooter ON THE BUS, and all they dId was make her return it. Talk about justice. SAPD said we couldnt file charges because she returned it back in time. "Pffft!! The law!!!"

This should have been handled internally at the university. Another education system without a lick of common sense.

TWO SODAS?!!!! Ok let's spend all these resources busting this grandma while people like ERICA APOLINAR and RICHARD "BULLDOG" BELTON go around town stealing from anyone they come across, they pawn what they can and take identities of innocent people to open fraudulent accounts, watch out for these scum, they are driving an early 2000 Supercrew cab White ford. I just can't comprehend how they remain free........maybe if they rob someone who has connections they will get caught

Are you kidding me?! Housekeepers are some of the worst! They have access to everything while no one is around...hense the camera! Yes, it sounds a bit ridiculous for her to get popped for $2 worth of soda...but this is probably the least of what she does. There was also money missing...so yeah, she got what she deserved. If her job did not pay her enough, she should have gotten a second job! I have no sympathy for thieves! Or any other criminal!

How much community service does it take to pay back two sodas?

Just curious - did the soda belong to another employee or did it belong to the UTHSC for use by people using the conf room. Installing a camera is a pretty big expense over missing sodas. How about stop putting sodas in the conf room. I am not excusing what she did but there must be more to the story. I work for a hospital system and trust me, many sodas disappear from the physicians lounges, but the only time we have installed cameras is when there are drugs or expensive instruments or medical supplies missing.

Good! It is rediculous how many times part or all of my lunch has been stolen at work. If you didn't bring it in, DON'T TAKE IT! Often the person whose food/drink gets stolen is someone on a very limited budget and/or has no way to go someplace to get a lunch and now has to go hungry or thirsty. It's about time someone took this seriously!
