PORT ISABEL, Texas - News 4 San Antonio was the only station to have a crew embedded with Homeland Security’s Special Response Team. Our crew traveled to the Rio Grande Valley to experience the agents' training.
These specially trained, fully armored agents are dispatched during the most severe and high risk situations. This team would be mobilized to San Antonio in the event of a terrorist attack, major emergency - like a school shooting - or a natural disaster. They were deployed to help rescue people after Hurricane Katrina.
Special Response Team Commander Carlos Cisneros explained that their team uses a high caliber of equipment and weapons.
We rode along as the team of agents showed us how they prepare and serve a federal criminal warrant. Cisneros says they're ready to meet each real life scenario head on to ensure the public and their team stays safe.
