SAN ANTONIO - Family, friends, and this year's Alamo Heights team gave Eddie Moreno Jr. a standing ovation before tip-off of the game against New Braunfels Canyon.

This time last year Eddie played a key role on the varsity team, and then in late march he was shot and paralyzed when a bullet severed his spinal cord. Eddie spent months in the hospital finally leaving in November just before the holidays.

Since then his goal has been to get to a Heights game; something he'd been bugging his mom about for weeks, and finally had the chance to do.

Look bigman im on the basketball team at AHHS, and you will never understand the pain and suffering that this boy has had to endure. Nobody probably will. For you to trivialize this tragedy is beyond cruel. Maybe you should get shot and see how much attention you get. You got no soul and one big ugly black heart. Also, he had no part in the encounter that took place. he never said a word.

bigman1 Are you really that big of or should I say that small of a man to print this about this young man? Apparently you are. This young man had no intention of being shot. For you to compare him to the subject in the valley who was a valid threat and was neutralized by PD makes no sense. Yes this young man made a mistake and now he will have to pay for it the rest of his life. For you to kick sand in his face shows that you are the real loser, and a real dolt.
