SAN ANTONIO - Drivers on the North Side were punching the steering wheel and venting their frustrations on Twitter after a huge back-up on Highway 281 where it hits Loop 1604.

First the backup were in the southbound lanes, and then all the northbound lanes were closed and traffic forced onto the frontage road.

Crews were putting in concrete traffic rails. The project was supposed to have been spread out over two days, but due to bad weather Saturday morning, Alamo RMA was trying to fit it all in Sunday.

Drivers were caught off guard because the agency did not send out an update on this. So people were Tweeting out warnings to other drivers, and asking what was going on.

Did anyone notice on the video that when showing the view of the cars it says 218 and 410?

I was coming back on I 35 south from a weekend trip and could have easily gone to 410 instead of getting stuck for an hour on 1604. All I would have needed was a nice TxDot sign before the 1604 exit warning me of the backup. I don't know what the hail TxDot installs all the cameras and fancy signs for if they are of no benefit to us.

Wow lets live in stone oak, ha, thats what they get, over paid houses, you can get the same house, on any other side of town for 100k cheaper. Why dont they focus on all the foreclosures in Stone Oak, no one wants to talk about that. DO THEY?

I like that song that Nazareth did, hair of the dog. To me, it's a Christmas carol.

Jesus of Nazareth, without money and arms, conquered more millions than Alexander the Great, Caesar, Mohammed, and Napoleon; without science and learning, he shed more light on things human and divine than all philosophers and scholars combined; without the eloquence of school, he spoke such words of life as were never spoken before or since, and produced construction effects which lie beyond the reach of orator or poet; without writing a single line, he set more blueprints in motion, and furnished themes for more sermons, orations, discussions, learned volumes, works of art, and songs of praise than the whole army of great men of ancient and modern times. So Jesus doesn't want to hear your b**ching.

Duh, it's 281 and 1604. If you overpaid for your house just to be a part of that traffic, then you got what you paid for. Overrated and overcrowded. Stone Oak means Dumb Rocks.

They have announced all week that it was going to be backed up. If you don't find yourself stuck in it, well, that is your own fault.
