SAN ANTONIO -- Police are searching for a driver they said left a trail of destruction in an East Side neighborhood Monday morning.

Officers said a man driving a Chevrolet Impala was speeding when he crashed into a car in the 400 block of North Monumental around 11:30 a.m. The driver then put the car in reverse and plowed into an SUV next door, knocking it into a house. He then sped off in the Impala.

Police said the Impala was also involved in another accident near the corner of Hammond and St. Anthony Streets, where several parked vehicles were hit and an apartment building was damaged.

No one was hurt. A short time later police found police the stolen car at the Little Red Barn restaurant in the 1800 block of South Hackberry. The restaurant's manager said surveillance video did not capture the man who jumped out of the stolen car and took off running.

The owner of the car told us the car was stolen from her house before dawn Sunday. Police are still searching for the car thief.

Was this a 6 year old trying to go visit her dad? Or maybe the Little Red Barn needed some free exposure. Sounds like a joyride that left police looking like the Benny Hill Show.
