SAN ANTONIO - A driver was arrested after deputies say he led them on a high speed car chase across the city.

The chase began around 12:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Montgomery and New World Drive area on the Far Northeast Side. Deputies say they tried to stop a man driving a PT Cruiser for speeding, but he refused to pull over. The chase began and continued for more than 30 miles throughout the city, with speeds reaching more than 90 miles per hour.

During the chase, the driver called his girlfriend to meet him at a Northwest Side apartment complex. According to deputies, the man then jumped out of the car and took off on foot. He was eventually caught not far from his vehicle. The man now faces evading arrest and drugs charges.

Deputies said his girlfriend hopped into the car, which had been left behind. She may also face charges.
