SAN ANTONIO -- Dozens of people en route to Mexico were stranded for 16-hours in San Antonio this weekend after the bus they were riding in broke down.

About 40 passengers were headed from Chicago to Mexico when their bus started having engine problems early Sunday morning. The driver parked the bus at a Valero gas station on West Villaret Boulevard, near Loop 410. The passengers stayed there until around 5:00 p.m. Sunday, when they boarded another bus.

Some of the passengers told us they were forced to sleep on the grass outside.

We tried to reach the bus company Sunday for comment but have not heard back from them.

Without the ability to run the engine, the AC would be out too. So I bet they are referring to the fact that the interior of the bus was hotter than heck!

Forced to sleep on the grass? I doubt that. Just another way for some people to make some money. They were so traumatized, I'm sure. We will be hearing about a lawsuit real soon.
