Like Texann said in an earlier post. VIA is damned if they do and damned if they don't in this situation. It's impossible to have SAPD or Transit Police at this stop all the time. One could say that providing the bench is also looking out for the prostitutes/drug dealers as much as its looking out for the disabled individual. I think the best thing may be to replace the bench, and if illegal activity is seen taking place, whoever sees it needs to report it. Sadly, this seems to have been in place already and deemed insufficient...

I think VIA's priorities need to be with their riders, especially those that have disabilities. It's SAPD's job to worry about crime, not get it moved a block away. However, with VIA, their transit police, and SAPD, I'm sure they can come up with a solution.

@ey mang - it would cost a lot more than $100 to put a camera up... consider the cost of the camera, cost of installation, power requirements, maintenance, video storage, networking (to relay the video), not to mention the cost of a person's salary to monitor the video... Now consider all that for any other bus stop where there is an incident...

I'm sure if Via can spend Millions on traffic management software and Primo they can surely afford to come up with a hundred dollar solution like security cameras to deter the loitering scum.
