NEW YORK (AP) - Twinkies could be back on the supermarket shelves by summer.

Hostess is moving ahead with plans to sell the rights to make the spongy cream-filled snacks.

The bankrupt company had earlier said there would be an auction for those rights, but now it says there's only been one qualified bid for the cakes, which also include Ding Dongs and Ho Hos.

Metropoulos & Co. and Apollo Global Management have made a joint offer of $410 million for the cakes.

A hearing to approve the purchase is set for March 19.

@Jimkata, I totally agree with you. I prefer some HEB products better than the brand names, and others are a more than acceptable & cheaper replacement. However, there are a couple that I definately don't like & will NEVER buy again!!! But, overall, most are great. Oh, and hubby & I LOVE their ice cream and sherbert. We even think their ice creams beats out Blue Bell! I know....blasphemy, but true. @Phrilly, if you'll pay attention, I think that you'll find that many brand name products have English on one side and Spanish on the other. First example I can name is Tide.

I knew Twinkies would be back!!! HEB products are hit-and-miss... some are just as good if not better than the brand names, while others bite...

Ridonkulous, you got to be kidding. HEB is slowly but surely putting their brand on the shelves thereby having no room for the brand names. I grit my teeth every time I pick up a can or box and the first thing I see is spanish instructions. They don't seem to understand we live in the U.S. not Mexico. The only thing I buy of HEB brands is their ice cream and milk.

Hopefully HEB will stock hostess instead of their brand.
