SAN ANTONIO -- Drivers on southbound U.S. Highway 281 had to deal with debris on the road Tuesday morning.

Several vehicles were seen pulling over and changing flat tires near Jones Maltsberger and Basse Road around 6:45 a.m.

Some of the southbound lanes had to be closed while crews worked to clear up the debris.

News 4 WOAI was told Texas Department of Transportation had "bridge joint work overnight on US 281 SB that failed." A spokesperson for TxDOT says "The bridge joint material didn't adhere to and popped out and apparently broke off into chunks as traffic drove over the highway."

It's not known if this is what caused the flat tire problem.

We had several calls to assist those with flat tire san antonio. This incident caused much damage, and I never heard who paid for repairs to the citizens who had flat tires in San Antonio while driving down HWY 281. Paul Brown www.ezlockout.com

Hunter100, The military is run by the government, they get the job done. Anything done by humans is not going to be 100% perfect cause people aren't perfect. But I want healthcare to be more competitive and if the government has to force them then sobeit. The whole "if the government does it it will fail" arguement isn't true.

I REALLY hope somebody wasn't trying to cause problems for the Presidential motorcade, but I wouldn't put criminal activity past the TEA Party.
