SAN ANTONIO- Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed is taking drastic measures to make an Eastside neighborhood plagued by gangs much safer. DA Susan Reed has filed a petition requesting a temporary restraining order and a temporary and permanent injunction that would keep 16 alleged "Bloods" gang members from hanging out with each other within the boundaries of a newly created safety zone.

The area is to be known as the “Wheatley Courts Safety Zone” and it runs from the Union Pacific railroad tracks south to east Commerce and from north New Braunfels to the tracks by the Freeman Coliseum.

The father of one man on the list welcomed the crackdown on crime and hopes the added pressure will help get his son on the right track.

Police stopped by John Ladeson's house to inform his son 22- year old Kajul Coleman that if he is caught associating with anyone on list; within the designated "Wheatley Courts Safety Zone" he will be arrested.

“I said the main thing to do for these kids around here is to get a job, that's what they need around here to get a job,” explained John Ladeson.

In fact, john said he had a firm talk with his son after the police visit and he sent him down to the nearest employment office to find a job.

Laden told his son,” Stay away from those people. You see the people's name's on this paper, stay away from them. I don't want them here; I don't want them around here”.

DA Reed announced in a press conference this morning that the men on the list have a history of using the "Wheatley Courts Safety Zone" as a place to store, hide, possess and sell illegal drugs.

“If officers see them out together they can stop them. It's giving them probable cause in order to investigate further and they usually find that they're up to no good,” said Reed.

If your neighborhood is plagued by violence and you're interested in it being designated a safety zone the DA suggest contacting the police department and asking for an officer assigned to your neighborhood

It would make a lot more sense to me if the "DA" would simply keep these criminals in PRISON for the gun crimes they commit.

Bauer, I have not known many people who are routinely drug tested at their jobs, maybe to get hired but not at most places. There are products on the market that help people pass them http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Week-Toxin-Removal-contains/dp/B0061GRNWK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345396149&sr=8-1&keywords=pass+hair+drug+test I hate that there are products like that available but people have to face reality, these things are not helping society.

My thoughts are that the DA simply "kicked" the can into the next neighborhood. Is she telling the criminals don't commit crimes in this neighborhood and silently saying but you can go somewhere else and take a chance?

Why are they only targeting these wayward children? There are lots of others that need to be cracked down upon for the mischief they get into. We even have these kinds of no-gooders out here in the country. They hang out late at night and listen to loud rock and roll music and drink beer and whiskey. Some of them take dope and spin out in people's yards and tear up their mailboxes with baseball bats. When they get together, they talk nasty and use the name of the Lord in vain. A lot of them go out dancing and fornicating with trashy women. They never mind their parents because their parents never make them mind or go to church or study the scriptures. So many of them steal, gamble, and look at pornography. It's just disgraceful and an abomination against our Lord and Savior. They need to get a new D.A. around here. It's not a job for women. They need to get a really tough Christian man who will go after all these juvenile delinquents-not just the ones on the East Side-and lock them away in a reformatory where they can be taught discipline and forced to live like Christians. Parents need to start doing their jobs, so that their children don't behave like these so-called "Bloods". They won't turn out like that if you make them go to church and be Christians and blister their backsides when they act ugly or when they don't mind and do what they're told.

Are these "Bloods" on probation or a sex offenders list?? If not then how can Queen Reed re-write the first admendment. "Congress shall make no law prohibiting . .. . or the right of the people peaceful to assemble . . ." If they have probable cause to investigate a crime then so be it but how can she simply say you can not associate with another person who is not on probation or other list??? In a free country you are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law!!

I agree all welfare recipients should have a work requirement but certainly should be tested on a regular basis for drug use. As most people who work for a leaving are.

That's getting tough on those bangers, get a restraining order on them...like that really works, just ask victims of domestic violence how it works for them...kinda like all that "Hope and Change" I heard about 4 years ago !!! lol
