SAN ANTONIO - Shootings and drug dealings; residents of the Spring Hill Apartments on the East Side say those are common occurrences and they want them gone.

The complex is part of San Antonio Housing Authority’s affordable housing community. It’s located on the 4000 block of Ray Bon Drive near Eisenhauer Road. Police were called out to more than 30 disturbances in the past three weeks.

An anonymous resident said, “In one week I have seen probably - three times - I've seen someone with a gun. Shootings, it’s hard to say because we hear them a lot."

While some residents were too scared to have their identity revealed, a handful of them spoke out, saying come nightfall their apartment complex is a thriving community for crime.

“You're basically like a sitting duck out there. You have nothing that is going to protect you when they go out and start shooting," explained one resident.

They say gunshots are heard on a regular basis. Adding something needs to be done.

“For instance, why don't they start getting security there constantly late at night?” asked an anonymous resident.

San Antonio police records reveal officers were called out to Spring Hill for five gun related incidents from July 22nd through August 16th. Other disturbances include thefts, fights, family violence, assaults, and burglaries. And while there is no record of drug related crimes during this time frame, residents claim they constantly hear drug dealings taking place.

“Plain as day you can hear them. How much for a bag? How much for this? How much for this? How much for that?”

A spokesperson for SAHA said as a result of these findings they plan to step up security and are requesting residents to report suspicious activity.

Ahhhh, Carmen just cracks me up. Carrying "symbolic torches and pitchforks as a symbol of brotherly love"? Woweeee. If I saw a crowd out in front of my house with torches and pitchforks, the first thing that would come to my mind would be "look at all that brotherly love!" Bwaaa haaa haaaa haaaaa!!!!

I'm sorry Carmen Arocha, but it was your parents who created the misconception - you.

Ordinrily, do not respond to personal attacks or conjecture, but I feel that I may have created a misconception. My advice to the Witnesses that they would be unable to sell any copies of The Watchtower during our witnessing seems to have been taken in some quarters as evidence that I, along with others, am a Witness myself. I am not a Jehovah's Witness, though my calling is to witness for Jehovah, which is the name of Almighty God, and we are on a first name basis. I cannot speak for other Christians who give sermons or make comments on this site, though I will say that the Jehovah's Witnesses are quite active in spreading the Good News and they may well participate. The Witnesses, for those of you not yet saved, are the poor Christians. They spend almost all of their time studying the Scriptures ansd witnesing. The rest of us are rich, rich, rich. We pay all the taxes and you probably work for one of us. God bless!

"Watchtowers"? So, they ARE a Jehova's Witnesses, Carmen Arocha, Dodie Lee and the Gang! That explains so much! Bunch of loonies. However, I do remember that in the early 80's that area was pretty empty. It got bad once those apartments were built.

Why is everyone acting surprised? That place was a dump in the early 80s and never changed. It was trash when I was a teen and still is. As for Katrina trash, they added fuel to an already out of control fire. So, get the decent ppl out, cage the area, and let them kill themselves. That side of town has been a hood for years, and has spread like a bad rash over into other areas that used to be normal in the north east area. Like cockroaches they will never go away.

This is why Christian people are adamantly opposed to allowing the government to put their mixed use dwelling places in our neighborhoods. These government people have no intention of moving in themselves, but they are certain that doctors and accountants will jump at the chance to live in a multicultural environment and they are willing to spend as much of our tax dollars as it takes to make it work. This government housing always becomes the headquarters and a focal point for the Devil's people. Everyone complains about the fighting, shooting, cutting, cussing, taking the Lord's name in vain, stealing, dope using, dope selling, beer drinking, urinating in public, vandalism, gambling, advertising sexual services, nakedness and debauchery, but for some reason, the Sheriff is never turned loose to root the wicked out. That is because the democrat lawyers need to keep them concentrated in one place so they are easier to bus to the polls. Christians should stage peaceful marches at these vile places, carrying symbolic torches and pitchforks as a gesture of brotherly love, and try to save as many of these lost wretches as possible. I advise full body armor. I believe it is unlikely that any Watchtowers will be sold to defray costs, but it is our Christian duty to deliver the Good News.
