SEGUIN, Texas -- Police got a huge break in a 10-year vending machine crime spree that was happening throughout the state of Texas.
On Thursday, Seguin police arrested 34-year-old Jory Merrill and 30-year-old Jaime Seeton after Merrill was allegedly spotted breaking into a vending machine at the Summers Bend Apartments.
Destiny Hudgins told News 4 she saw something suspicious and called police.
Detective Jaime Diaz says the arrest uncovered hundreds of dollars, coins, and a notebook with details of every city they hit over the years and where each vending machine was located on the property. Detective Diaz also says tools, gloves, and the white four-door Buick matched surveillance video captured several months ago.
So far, the investigation has uncovered that the couple has traveled as far north as Fort Worth. But detective Diaz says the notebook lists dozens of cities, including San Antonio, Austin, Seguin, San Marcos, New Braunfels and many more.
Right now, detective Diaz is building his Seguin case and is asking other law enforcement to contact him about vending machine break-in in their area.
