SAN ANTONIO -- District 2 Councilwoman Ivy R. Taylor hosted the third annual meeting to report on the East Side reinvestment efforts Saturday.

Residents learned more about efforts and projects including the Choice neighborhood initiative, Promise neighborhoods, Red Berry mansion redevelopment, park improvements and other investments.

A major concern at the meeting was bringing more businesses to the East Side.

Community leaders recommended that business owners do intense market research at UTSA's Small Business Development Center if they want to open a store or restaurant.

Leaders also pointed out there needs to be a better program to provide ex-felons with jobs, so they won't go back to lives of crime.
