SAN ANTONIO - Students at Nelson Elementary School on the city's West Side are having to attend gym class in their cafeteria after a burglar stole the copper from the gym's air conditioning units.

The copper was stolen around 5:45 a.m. from the school on Waverly, near Woodlawn Lake.

Police arrested Arturo Mendoza, 42, for the crime.

School officials said the air conditioning units were damaged beyond repair.

Until they are fixed, students can use the gym in the morning, but will be moved to the cafeteria if it gets too warm.

Make this Mendoza idiot pay for all the mess he made. Put a lien on his house (if he has one), garnish his wages (doubt he works) but, better yet, cancel all his welfare benefits (bet he is on this). What a loser, didn't event think that he'd be hurting the kids at this school.

I suggest that not only is the thief caught and tried, but the buyer of the scrap metal. I mean the sentence for the scrap metal buyer would be twice the amount of fine and time in jail for purchasing scrap metals.
