FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas -- More than 100 people were evacuated from an area on Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston due to a gas leak Thursday.

JBSA spokesperson Brent Boller said a contractor using a backhoe hit a 2-inch gas line near Stanley Road, on the West Side of the base, around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

At least six buildings were evacuated. CPS Energy was able to secure the line, and everyone was allowed to return to the buildings.

No injuries reported.
