SAN ANTONIO - The historic East Side church that lost its place of worship to a fire has a new home. Church members are also singing the praises of San Antonio.

Members of the Childress Memorial Church of God in Christ will now be meeting for worship at the Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church. Church members say they were relieved and reassured to learn the fire that destroyed their building was not intentionally set.

“It kind of put it to rest in my mind, in my heart it put it to rest knowing that okay, it was an accident let's keep going, let's move forward, let's do what we have to do,” said Cheriette Murphy.

Church members say they are grateful to the Adventist congregation for sharing their building, since it is not used by them on Sundays.  They also told us they are thankful for the overwhelming support they've received from people around the city.  For now they are calling the Adventist building their "permanent, temporary home away from home".
