SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas - Usually when the Coast Guard rescues someone it's at sea. Sunday though, a Coast Guard helicopter had to rescue five people whose truck got stuck in the sand on South Padre Island.
A child and four adults had to spend the night on a remote beach 20 miles north of Port Isabel. They called 911 early this morning as a storm swept through the area. The sheriff's department couldn't get to them so the Coast Guard chopper was sent in to pick them up, and everybody was okay.
