BEXAR COUNTY – Sheriff’s deputies say a pair of thieves working as house cleaners may have taken out more than just the trash.
They may have cleaned their customers’ homes of property, as well.
The two are identified as Viola Gonzalez, 46, and Roy Carranco, 45, and according to investigators they are the co-owners the Krystal Kleen Maid Service of San Antonio.
Supposedly the duo cleaned 50 to 60 area homes throughout the city and county. The Bexar County Sheriff's Department officials say the crime was reported by one homeowner after jewelry was discovered missing. Just before the owner reported the missing property to authorities, the victim called Viola Gonzalez to ask about the items. Investigators say Gonzalez returned one of the missing necklaces to the owner saying she had found it in her vacuum cleaner.
Deputies allege Gonzales and Carranco pawned hundreds of jewelry pieces in various pawn shops throughout San Antonio, including another necklace belonging to the victim.
Investigators believe there are more cases. Detectives are now sifting through hundreds of pawn shop records trying to identify other possible victims.
If anyone has hired the couple to clean their home or office over the past year and have discovered missing items, call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at (210) 335-6070 and ask for Detective Buchanan.
Gonzalez and Carranco are charged with Theft $1500-20,000 and were released on $2500 bond each.
