SAN ANTONIO - About two million people get infections just sitting in their hospital beds. But a company on the cutting edge says they can fix that, and they are bring their headquarters to San Antonio. Xenex Health Care is leaving Austin and coming here.
On Friday the CEO showed off what the company is all about. They created a pulse xenon disinfection device. It emits short and intense bursts of UVC light that kills bacteria left on services in patient rooms.
“They are on bed rails, they are on the remote control, they're on the nurse's call button, they are on the telephone, they are on the cradle, they are on the television, they are all over the place and it's not physically possible in a half hour for the housekeeper to get to all those surfaces. With Xenex they can,” he expalined.
In fact, it only takes about five minutes with their robot.
Fifteen jobs are coming to San Antonio with the move.
City council voted unanimously to give Zenex a $150,000 relocation grant to entice them to come here from Austin.
