SAN ANTONIO -- City Council members say they are committed to protecting the ratepayers of CPS Energy.
Council members met behind closed doors Wednesday to talk about concerns that the cost of a proposed nuke plant expansion could be $4 billion more than first expected.
"We will not have the ratepayers pay one cent more because we did not have good information," Mayor Julian Castro. "We will only make decisions that affect rates based on good solid information."
Mayor Castro says the council does not yet have solid information. But it will soon.
Two CPS Energy employees were placed on administrative leave after the council learned about the increase in cost.
The results of an internal investigation are expected to be released Friday.
