SAN ANTONIO -- A North Side Catholic church was evacuated after a vehicle hit a gas line on the property Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to St. Matthew Catholic Church in the 10,700 block of Wurzbach Road around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.

According to St. Matthew Catholic School's principal, the vehicle hit a gas line at the church, which is at least 200 yards from the school. The principal said the church and parish administration building were evacuated, but students and staff were safe inside the school.

The church's 12:15 p.m. Mass was cancelled.

CPS Energy crews gave the green light for everything to return to normal around 12:45 p.m. Dismissal at the school will proceed on time.
