SAN ANTONIO - A trio of burglars got quite a surprise Sunday morning when they barged into a home in West Bexar County. The homeowner happened to be a Bexar County sheriff's deputy.
The deputy, who works at the Bexar County Detention Center, didn't let the suspects get away without a fight. The brawl was caught on a neighbor's surveillance camera just after 10:00 a.m. Sunday. The deputy is seen on the video wrestling with one of the suspects in his front yard.
"There's several moves that our officers are trained to do. It appears that he's doing that," explained Lou Antu of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.
Eventually, the officer was overpowered by the two males and female, and they were able to get away. The trio, Frank Davila Jr., Preston Sluder, and Marissa Tolentino, left empty handed but were arrested a short while later. They have been charged with burglary.
"We're just fortunate enough that the officer did not get seriously injured," added Antu.
Since the investigation is ongoing, all three suspects could face additional charges.
