SAN ANTONIO -- An elderly man is hit and killed by a car on the Southeast Side.

The 74-year-old man was crossing the street Friday night just before seven at South Gevers and Waleetka when he was hit.

Police said he was walking from his apartment to a Foodmart across the street.
He died shortly after EMS arrived.

Officers told News 4 San Antonio that speed was not a factor.
The 69-year-old driver did not see the man in time to stop.
