CANYON LAKE, Texas -- Hundreds of feet of water are being drained from Canyon Lake, right now.
News 4 WOAI has learned the city of Victoria is suffering from an extreme drought. We were told the water being released down the Guadalupe River will give them a much-needed boost. But it's also helping the tubing business this Fourth of July weekend.
Some speculate the Guadalupe River is at least a foot or two deeper now. The mayor of New Braunfels expects the dam will remain open throughout the weekend.
If you had plans to boat or ski on Canyon Lake this weekend, be careful. The low water level has exposed rocks and tree stumps, making it more dangerous.
