SAN ANTONIO -- Mario Moreno is often called the "Charlie Chaplin of Mexico." In fact, Charlie Chaplin himself called Moreno "the funniest man in the world." But for thousands of fans, Moreno was much more than an actor and the San Antonio Public Library wants to invite you to find out why.

The San Antonio Public Library, KLRN and the San Antonio Public Library Foundation have partnered to create and host, "Cantinflas Retro: A Mario Moreno Retrospective."

The exhibit opened Saturday and runs through October 15, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Visitors of the exhibit will experience a collection of movie posters and replica photos from the life and work of Moreno. Cantinflas movie screenings will also be held throughout the month at various branch libraries. Additional memorabilia will also be open for public viewing at the art space inside Texas A&M University.

Moreno appeared in over 45 films, where he often portrayed the "everyman" character of Cantinflas. His character and name became associated with the national identity of Mexico.

To see Cantinflas memorabilia firsthand and for more information, visit the exhibit's homepage at http://www.cantinflasretro.com./#!
