Burglars take off with cash register

SAN ANTONIO -- Police are searching for two thieves who broke into a South Side food mart.

A witness heard a loud bang and then saw two people carrying something out of the Primos Food Mart in the 4000 block of Commercial around 2:35 a.m. Thursday. When officers arrived, they discovered the cash register had been taken. Police said the pair pried open the front door after cutting off a lock and chain. The thieves were last seen in a vehicle traveling west on West Baetz.

Police are in the process of collecting fingerprints from the scene and reviewing security video from the store.
