SAN ANTONIO -- Several structures were destroyed by a brush fire in Southeast Bexar County Wednesday.
The fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. near New Sulphur Springs Road and Crow Road. News 4 WOAI was told the fire started as a controlled trash fire Tuesday night but rekindled Wednesday morning. The homeowner returned home, spotted the flames, and called for help.
The fire quickly got out of control, and the immediate area was evacuated while crews worked to put out the flames. A mobile home, two RVs, and four barns were burned before the fire was brought under control.
The flames spread and burned the grass around some nearby homes, but no other homes caught fire. Residents also reported hearing explosions because of propane tanks in the area.
About a dozen volunteer fire crews responded and helped put out the fire.
