I can't imagine what his mother is going through. My condlences to her and the family. You can't help but hug your kids a little tighter when you hear about things like this. Don't take a second for granted. May you Rest In Peace Brandon.

I witnessed the accident and he wasn't "drunk" like the news are saying, he was on his way home from Holmes high school and he just happens to be on the wrong place on the wrong time, I know he is an illegal immigrant but everybody deserves a chance on this country as our ancestors did, I know he did wrong and he has to pay for it but don't be so cruel with him.

Wow. I was looking at some of these comments and noticed that y'all call the driver a low-life, & he deserves to be executed? Y'all didn't even know him? He was a good kid, did good in school, was a great friend to many people, and wasn't known for drinking? Yes, I find it stupid how he was on his phone and dropped it. He happened to jump the wrong curb at the wrong time. He does deserve time for his actions, but I think it's stupid when y'all don't even know him and y'all can say he was a low-life etc...

I pray for the Abrams family. I also pray that Brandon's story and his life, although cut short, will influence others to not use the phone while driving, as well as not drive impaired. This tragic incident should send a message, resonating throughout our city- so that we will never forget Brandon and what he was able to accomplish while on earth. Let's hope his life saves others in the future.

I am slamming the gavel down on this kid. Here's the findings: Yes he might have been an alright kid who was brought up in an alright family with alright siblings...who did a terrible thing that changed many lives in an instant. Wrong is wrong. No lenient court for this one. Maybe in 50 years after prison he can apply and take the tests to get a DL. Good luck in the pokey chump. You're done.

Just another horrible day in this town...another low-life who has destroyed yet another family and for WHAT? Can't even imagine how the little boy's parents and neighbors who witnessed this must feel. They now have to look at that spot every day. Such a senseless crime.

God Bless Brandon. My guess is that the driver doesn't become this irresponsible overnight. There's a good chance he's been a punk for awhile. So good riddance arshhole and learn to bend over loser.

You can thank the liquor lobby and its attorneys for lenient sentences in DUI cases. I certainly hope that the DA wont bargain with Roy Barrera and fellow DUI lawyers on this one.
