SAN ANTONIO - It's sexy and sultry, and it's been called Victoria's Secret for the every day woman. A hot new photography trend is a booming business and it's helping women embrace their sensual side.
Carey Hayden chose a boudoir photo session as a Valentine's Day present for her husband. She may look like a model, but she's a just a mom looking to spice up her marriage.
"After having two kids, this is something that makes you feel comfortable with the shape of your body and how it is now," she explained.
Ladies can spend a couple hundred dollars and a couple of hours in front of the lens at Studio Boudoir in Bulverde. After getting all dolled up in hair and makeup, Hayden was ready for her close up.
"It's meant to be elegant. It's meant to be classy, beautiful and sexy," Studio Boudoir owner Anita Lubke explained. "It's not about being a supermodel or having a model physique. We walk you through everything from posing to lingerie choices to everything in between."
Lubke booked 190 women last year, in her first year of business. Only women work inside her new studio and she photographs the clients one on one in a private session.
"We don't do nudity. I don't shoot couples. We don't shoot men. This is meant to be a safe environment for women to come in and feel comfortable doing this because it's meant to be an expression for a significant other," she said.
Most of her clients are brides or wives celebrating an anniversary, but she has photographed some senior citizens and breast cancer survivors.
"One had just finished her journey and wanted to regain feeling beautiful and sexy about her body after going through this awful, traumatic experience," Lubke said.
She'll airbrush a few flaws but won't make any major changes. After her session, Hayden was left feeling gorgeous.
"I'm a Victoria's Secret model!" she joked.
