SAN ANTONIO -- The battle continues to brew over the historic Hays Street Bridge.
The bridge is on tap to become a beer garden. City Council has already approved the sale of the land to the developer.
"The city needs to understand, just because city council decided this, it doesn't mean that's what the community wanted," explained Itza Carbajal.
The city clerk accepted the petition but said it's not valid.
Some neighbors wanted the land to be used for a park, and there is a provision that says the fate of park land should be decided by voters. But the city attorney says the Hays Street Bridge was never designated as park land, so the provision doesn't apply. That leaves the petition dead in the water.
