ATASCOSA COUNTY, Texas--Early Friday afternoon, Atascosa County received some much-needed rain. News 4 WOAI witnessed a large cell move through the small town of Charlotte. Then we heard thunder and saw lightning. Soon, clouds started to appear and people looked on as the rain came pounding down.
Heavy drops formed bubbles and roads were transformed into rivers. At Luna's Tire shop there wasn't any damage, but the thunderstorm did cause a big mess.
"We are sweeping it off the concrete, it did come down pretty hard, it made a lot of noise, but it's rain that we need for the farmers around here," said Rick Luna of Luna's Tire Shop.
Workers at the tire shop said that a little housekeeping is a small price to pay for the desired rain. They rode out the storm inside and their only concern was about the electricity.
"A lot of thunder and lightning and my computer shut down but good thing nothing messed up on it or we would have had to restart everything," said Isela Villareal. "Everything is working and it's great."
Although the storm did not last long, residents appreciated its presence. By late Friday afternoon, the skies were clear and blue.
