FLORESVILLE, Texas -- Floresville assistant police chief Andy Joslin was indicted this week by a Wilson County grand jury.

Joslin, who is also the Democratic nominee for Wilson County judge is charged with official oppression. He allegedly used excessive force against a man during an incident back in December at Big Dan's Place, a Floresville bar.

"At this point, I am not able to release any information due to my attorney's advice," Joslin told News 4 WOAI. "All I can say is that this is an extremely hard time for me and my family, and I will be proven innocent."

The Texas Rangers investigated, but they aren't commenting on just what Joslin is accused of doing. We also reached out to the Floresville police chief and the Wilson County district attorney, and they are not offering any specifics about the alleged incident.

Floresville Mayor Daniel Tejada told News 4 WOAI that he and the city council fully support Joslin. The mayor said Joslin was off-duty at the time of the alleged incident.

"He was approached in an aggressive manner, (Joslin) reacted. There was a scuffle. Allegedly, someone was hurt," Tejada said.

Joslin is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The mayor expects in the end, Joslin's name will be cleared.
