FLORESVILLE, Texas -- Floresville assistant police chief Andy Joslin was indicted this week by a Wilson County grand jury.

Joslin, who is also the Democratic nominee for Wilson County judge is charged with official oppression. He allegedly used excessive force against a man during an incident back in December at Big Dan's Place, a Floresville bar.

"At this point, I am not able to release any information due to my attorney's advice," Joslin told News 4 WOAI. "All I can say is that this is an extremely hard time for me and my family, and I will be proven innocent."

The Texas Rangers investigated, but they aren't commenting on just what Joslin is accused of doing. We also reached out to the Floresville police chief and the Wilson County district attorney, and they are not offering any specifics about the alleged incident.

Floresville Mayor Daniel Tejada told News 4 WOAI that he and the city council fully support Joslin. The mayor said Joslin was off-duty at the time of the alleged incident.

"He was approached in an aggressive manner, (Joslin) reacted. There was a scuffle. Allegedly, someone was hurt," Tejada said.

Joslin is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The mayor expects in the end, Joslin's name will be cleared.

Leila, please dig deeper. There is much more to this story. Why is it that the Wilson County News (WCN, on-line version, wilsoncountynews.com) story about the assistant chief didn't appear until 3 months after the alleged event occurred and, then, only after your WOAI report had aired? Why did the on-line version of the WCN article about the assistant chief not contain as much information as the article that appeared even later in the San Antonio Express-News (SAE-N)? The SAE-N article was far more informative and accurate than the WCN on-line article. By the way, there was no knowledge of the misdemeanor warrant referred to in the WCN on-line article at the time of the alleged incident. It was several days later that the warrant was discovered. This alleged incident was not part of a warrant roundup. Why were the blog comments of the on-line version of the WCN removed after several "not-in-favor-of-assistant-chief" comments were made? Check on the status of the P.I. charge, Leila, that Mr. Dunn was charged with. That might prove to be very interesting. Sometimes the one act you hear about is just the latest act of a very long play.

"He Is Risen" is right! Do not think he/she is just stereotyping every bar to be the same when we all know they are. If one is, they all are. Period. And no, that is not ignorance either. If it is then how do I know "He Is Risen" is a child rapist? Because 4 days a week I hear about children raped by Christians. Therefore, I know all of them do it. All Christians are sinners and hang out in bad places called, "churches". A church is where the Head Master Rapist passes his word to others so they can blindly follow with open eyes. Hahaha. How do you like it, He Is Risen? How do you like hearing absurd, foolish, nonsense? I bet you hate it. Well you can count on all of us feeling the same way with you idiots coming on here and referencing this to God for no reason. P.S. - There is a tribe in Africa that claims they are worshipping the real god so I guess you're going to hell for false worship. And trust me, I know I'm right and I know I have the right to unstoppably throw this in your face because they promised that they are right. Because they promised they are right I know they are. Now I can spew garbage that makes no sense at all to you, and that you don't care for, 24/7. Nah but for real, there is nothing wrong with Christians, you are just an idiot.

As a peace officer YOU SHOULD HAVE ENOUGH COMMON SENSE to avoid consuming alcoholic beverages in an establishment such as Big Dan's Place. A) Drink at home, or B) Drink at a reputable establishment.

It is sad to see one who has risen so high, only to fall to such depths. No Christian man should ever take to going into barrooms where beer is served. It can lead only to tragedy. If you go into those dens of inequity, you have to assume you will be exposed to many different kinds of sinners, all driven together in one place by their thirst for alcohol and sin. I believe the citizens have the right to know their police will not be involved in sin. No police officer should ever go into a bar unless he is there to arrest violators. All of those places should be closed down as continuing criminal enterprises. This policeman needs to get right with Jesus because he has sinned by failing to uphold the public's trust in him. "Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing."- Psalm 100:2

This is what can be expected when you go to a saloon where beer is sold. There are people in there who are best left to themselves. I'm talking about real bad sinners, the kind who get in fights and cause trouble. No Christian should ever go into a saloon unless it is to break the bottles of liquor and preach the Gospel. That job is reserved for the most stalwart of Christians. I think we should be able to trust our police not to go into a place like that unless they are there to arrest the sinners and close the place down. "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible."- Mark 10:27

pdunk, while they took your suggestion and corrected their mistake, spell check would not pick up on 'manor' vs. 'manner' since 'manor' is also a correctly spelled word. It seems to me like that they need a human editor who knows which word to use when they are homonyms.

manor is spelled MANNER woai... dont you guys use spell check?

Apparently the Chief did not get hurt. The loser should wait until the trial is over then go try it again.

As a peace officer it's pretty darn hard to go enjoy a drink without some POS trying to cause trouble if they recognize you. I guess that's what the A Chief was doing. He just took care of the problem at hand and the trouble maker is now crying foul.
