SAN ANTONIO - Five armed men burst into a couple's motel room and robbed them at gunpoint.
The incident happened a little before 2 A.M. at the Hallmark Inn and Suites on the city's northeast side. According to police, the man answered a knock at the door only to have men storm into the apartment and hold him down. Investigators say that while being held down by two of the assailants, another hit the man on the head with a rock. One of the suspects possessed a gun, but apparently did not open fire.
The group fled with a safe and some of the man's belongings. The woman in the room was not hurt, and the man is expected to recover. It is not known why the couple was singled out.
