SAN ANTONIO -- Investigators say an appliance sparked a house fire northwest of Downtown.

Firefighters were called to a house on Princeton Avenue, near Interstate 10 and Culebra Road, just before 10:30 Sunday night. The family was home at the time but got out safely. Investigators say the fire started in a back bedroom and was likely caused by an electrical malfunction in a washing machine or dryer.

The fire caused about $25,000 in damages.

No injuries were reported.

@sraspusr20: The only thing that I can tell you is that most mortgages REQUIRE insurance. So, if the homeowner doesn't have insurance, it's their lack of good judgment along with the negligence & fault of the lender, and not our fault to have to "help" the owner through as a taxpayer. Same goes for those that no longer have a mortgage, and homeowner's insurance isn't required, so they gamble to save the extra annual money. Bad choice. Not my fault or responsibility. 'Nuf said!!!!
