DALLAS (AP) - An attorney for a Texas man linked to the hacking group Anonymous says the man has been detained by the FBI for allegedly threatening a federal agent.
Barrett Brown of Dallas was arrested Wednesday night and booked into the Dallas County jail. A sheriff's spokeswoman said Thursday that the 31-year-old was later transferred into FBI custody.
His attorney, Jay Leiderman, tells The Associated Press he expects Brown to be charged because of YouTube videos he posted in recent days.
The most recent video is entitled, "Why I'm Going to Destroy FBI Agent Robert Smith." In it, Brown accuses the FBI of threatening his mother in an attempt to get to him. The former journalist has become closely associated with Anonymous.
Spokesmen for the FBI and local U.S. attorney declined comment.
