SAN ANTONIO – The man accused of shooting 13 people at Fort Hood Thursday is at Brook Army Medical Center.

Major Hasan was brought to BAMC because workers said the hospital is the U.S. Army's only Level 1 trauma center in the country.

A spokesman from BAMC said Hasan is in stable condition in the intensive care unit. Workers at the hospital confirmed Hasan remains in a coma. There have been reports that he is paralyzed from his injuries and on a ventilator.

Workers at BAMC won't release too many more details. They do say Hasan is expected to survive his injuries.

The 39-year-old was shot several times by a civilian officer at Fort Hood Thursday. Investigators say Hasan killed 13 people and hurt 30 others. Army officials and investigators are trying to determine what led to the violent outburst.
