SAN ANTONIO - Getting fit and staying healthy is a standard New Years Resolution for many, but one 93-year-old yoga instructor is an inspiration to several generations of her students. News 4 WOAI's Lauren Lea went to her class. Click here to watch the story…

At an age where many people have a difficult time getting around, Esther Vexler is teaching others how to live a healthy life. She’s been practicing yoga for almost six decades, and teaching for 42 years. She has a loyal following at the Synergy Studio at Pearl.

She was the first baby born in San Antonio in 1918, and she believes yoga's helped extend her life, “The only conflict I have is my husband. He’s 96, and still drives himself to work. He doesn't do yoga."

Vexler said yoga reminds you about the joys of life, not the burdens.

She has no plans to retire anytime soon. “As long as the students come, I'll keep teaching,” says Vexler.

I love this story. My grandmother teaches Yoga in LA and she is 70 years old I would have to say she is in better shape then most people I see.

I took a class with Esther Vexler at the NEISD a couple of years ago and I was amazed at her vitality, vlexability and overall quest for life. I couldn't keep up with her and I'm 40 years younger. Thank you Esther for that Experience and for sharing yourself with others!!! Rosie Valdez

How can I not comment on this wonderful tribute to my Mom, Esther VEXLER. Mom still packs the day and cooks up a marvelous dinner for ten at the drop of a hat. We hit the McNay, HEB, and our favorite thrift stores with lunch a Panchitos each time I am in town. After a lifetime in SA, each time I am home, she has always found something new to show me. The energy, warmth, and ever open heart and door are all part of her core. That yoga brings her body, breathing, and spirit, as she says, together gives a name to who she is and what she does. And it is a real work-out! -- jill vexler
