SAN ANTONIO- What would you do if eight burglaries happened in your neighborhood all within a week? That’s happening in Kriewald Place. That’s on the far west side off of Highway 90, between Hunt Road and Loop 1604.

And now neighbors are trying to fight it.

“They happened during the day, sometimes they'll take just small little things, like one person had a guitar and change taken, but the very same day somebody was broken into and had laptops and game systems and everything taken,” explained Debra Vaughn; President of the Kriewald Homeowners Association.

There are more then 500 homeowners who live in Kriewald Place, and Debra feels everyone has to help to stop this crime spree.

She said, “We do patrols, all we need really are volunteers and we can never have too many people just to drive around”.

Debra is one of five people who patrol the neighborhood through the Bexar County Sheriff's Office- Cellular on Patrol Program, also know as COP.

She explained that it's mostly about getting to know your neighbors and knowing when there is somebody suspicious staking out the area. Debra also recommends getting help from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office to burglar-proof your home.

“Definitely go to the sheriff's and ask them to come out and do a home audit just because it's free. They come out, they check, they find out what's a safety issue in your house”.

For more information on the COP program visit www.bexar.org/bcsheriff. You can also call the COP Program Coordinator at the Sheriff’s Office at 210-335-5791 or 210-335-5787.

With our police force here in Selma they would be in jail in a heart beat ,by far we have the best cops around ,they don't mess around, they patrol our streets every 5 minutes they are everywhere and even hide , love our police and I sleep well at nite knowing they are out there . Kudos to our men in blue.

This is only the beginning. With the nation trying enforce more gun control who knows how high the burglaries will be once the knuckleheads realize that a law abiding citizen does not have a gun to protect their homes.

I have four words that describe the root of this problem: City Manager Sheryl Sculley. She don't care 'bout the Sanantonians safety. Matter of fact, she don't care about Sanantonins, period. What she cares about is cutting corners here and there in order to save money for the City Council's pets projects. If she can save millions, she's making sure she will get a fat bonus check again. Screw the citizens of The Alamo City. To trample the righs, safety and general wellness of the Sanantonians we don't need an over-paid Arizonan bean-counter. We have many locals that can do that.
