SAN ANTONIO- It's been five years since 17-year-old Joe Trevino was shot in the head while standing on a west side street. Trevino's killer was never caught and his family is still searching for justice.

Joe's murder is a case that has gone cold. His mom, Patricia Lozano said it's been long enough and someone needs to speak up and identify her son's killer.

The anniversary of her son’s death has brought back nightmares of the day Joe died back on November 4, 2007. And yet she still weeps for him as if she just lost him yesterday.

According to Patricia, Joe had left to attend a birthday party along the 300 block of Landa Avenue. She said while at the party words were exchanged between Joe, his friends, and some other guys.  That's when her son was shot.  He was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Nobody ever spoke up to say who killed Joe Trevino.

“There were a lot of witnesses there but they are afraid to speak up, they're afraid of the person who did it,” said Patricia Lozano.

Patricia explained further that the people that were there and called themselves Joe's friends need to tell the truth and bring closure to his death. She also wants to remind anyone with information about Joe’s murder that they can remain anonymous when offering up information about the deadly shooting. All they have to do is call Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP. If their information leads to an arrest they could receive a $5,000 reward.
