5-vehicle pileup on Loop 1604

By now there are many that know my name on here..and here I am again. While I don't know the exact reason for the accident I do have some insight. Most have heard of the lady getting a ticket for doing 63 in a 65 because she was driving in the left lane, and she deserved it. And so do many of the people living and driving in San Antonio..And yes..I've caught myself doing it but rarely..impeding traffic in the left lane. The traffic laws in Texas state that "All slower traffic should remain in the right lanes." and the big one, and there are signs on 410 and 1604 both that say this, "Left Lane for Passing Only" These signs are in black and white, meaning it's the law. Now I hear you..'I'm doing the speed limit, so they are breaking the law by speeding.' Technically yes, they are. But impeding traffic is worse as it causes people to hit their brakes, and we all know how most all tailgate, the hurry up syndrome, or they pass you and flip you off or worse get in front of you and then hit their brakes..If you hit someone in the rear it's your fault...not theirs. So here's my point. Stay out of the left lane unless passing, and just because you are at the limit doesn't mean anything..if someone comes up behind you, move right and stay there, unless you are actually passing someone..and not the car a half mile in front of you. A little courtesy on the road will make you arrive where you're head more relaxed, and not taking the chance of some crazy guy, or girl, not just flipping you off but maybe even taking a shot at you..Road rage is real, and this could save your life.

If people followed the speed limit then others wouldnt have to tailgate...you people will go 50 MPH and there is no one in front of you! There is no excuse to tailgate HOWEVER if you are going to maintain a speed limit of 45-50 MPH get off the hwy and on the feeder and I bet there will be a decrease in accidents.

Don't tailgate and these things usually don't happen.

ABC123's comment is totally unrealistic about the whole population growth complaints. Studies show population growth is projected to keep going, and so is enrollment to UTSA, a huge reason people use 1604 and why it needs expansion (so does the 10 interchange there). At least get people educated with Bachelors Degrees, UTSA needs to add Petroleum Engineering to their offerrings, that pays the most $$$ out of all the Engineering degrees, they are decades behind the curveball here, snail's pace.

I hate 1604. I don't go that way anymore thanks to the 281 mess and the lack of condom use by the parents of all the drivers on 1604. Note to outsiders: Don't move to San Antonio. We don't need anymore people.
