SAN ANTONIO -- Police are trying to determine how a pill ended up in some fruit a student was eating.

When a 4th grade student at Brauchle Elementary bit into a pear at lunch Tuesday, she also bit into a pill. The girl spit it out and then gave the pill to teachers, who called police.

The child was taken to the hospital and is fine.

It was determined that the pill was Ritalin.

The Northside Independent School District Police Department is investigating how the pill got into the pears.
