SAN ANTONIO -- Police are investigating after a baby was found dead inside a Southeast Side home Sunday.
San Antonio police were called to an apartment in the 4,000 block of Southcross Sunday evening. When they arrived, they found a very distraught mother who had made a terrible discovery.
"What we know right now is the mom was sleeping on the couch with her baby. The baby's a 3-week-old little boy," explained Officer Eddie Rohmer of the San Antonio Police Department. "She woke up from the nap and couldn't find her baby. She looked around and found the baby on the floor. And as soon as she tried to revive it, she couldn't, and the baby was unresponsive."
The Bexar County Medical Examiner will not try to determine what caused the baby's death.
