SAN ANTONIO -- One person was killed and three others were seriously injured in an accident on Loop 410 Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Loop 410 near Medina Base Road. Police say a Pontiac Grande AM traveling in the southbound lanes of Loop 410 went over the median cables and into the northbound lanes, where it was hit by a Hyundai Accent. The Pontiac then went over the right side guardrail and off the highway. A Chevrolet pickup truck also traveling in the northbound lanes then crashed into the back of the Hyundai.
A passenger in the Pontiac, 21-year-old Fernando Guerrero, was killed. The driver, 45-year-old Linda Delacruz Guerrero, was seriously injured and taken to University Hospital.
Two passengers in the Hyundai were also seriously injured and were taken to University Hospital. One of them, 19-year-old pregnant woman, had an emergency delivery, but the baby did not survive. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a family physician by a family member.
The driver of the truck also suffered only minor injuries.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the Pontiac to veer into the northbound lanes.
