SAN ANTONIO -- One person was killed and three others were seriously injured in an accident on Loop 410 Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Loop 410 near Medina Base Road. Police say a Pontiac Grande AM traveling in the southbound lanes of Loop 410 went over the median cables and into the northbound lanes, where it was hit by a Hyundai Accent. The Pontiac then went over the right side guardrail and off the highway. A Chevrolet pickup truck also traveling in the northbound lanes then crashed into the back of the Hyundai.

A passenger in the Pontiac, 21-year-old Fernando Guerrero, was killed. The driver, 45-year-old Linda Delacruz Guerrero, was seriously injured and taken to University Hospital.

Two passengers in the Hyundai were also seriously injured and were taken to University Hospital. One of them, 19-year-old pregnant woman, had an emergency delivery, but the baby did not survive. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a family physician by a family member.

The driver of the truck also suffered only minor injuries.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the Pontiac to veer into the northbound lanes.

The story changes often on WOAI. Thats because WOAI usually posts the story incorrect at first, as they don't do any research. They are copying and pasting from other news outlets. Eventually they copy and paste from a source that did their homework or the readers complain enough and WOAI listens and fixes their own story. Thats pretty much how WOAI operates.

This is the only news station that is reporting that the driver of the truck caused the accident and that he was texting while driving...All the other stations are saying that it is the driver of one of the red cars fault, she lost control and went into on coming traffic....from the looks of all the cars, the truck looks like they were the last involved...But Yes if someone was texting and driving they should face charges

Once they begin handing down stiff sentences for voluntary manslaughter, then and ONLY then may we see a decrease in accidents related to cell phone use and texting. I urge our city council and mayor to drive from 35 and 410 all the way south on 410 to this accident site DURING rush hour traffic and observe first hand how many idiot drivers are talking and texting(once I even saw a man eating a bowl of cereal!)while driving and having multiple near misses!! Wake up SAPD start saving lives by ticketing these ppl!!!

This doesn't make sense "No charges are pending", it's illegal to text and drive, but even putting that aside, at the very least manslaughter charges would be filed since the pickup driver was at fault in an accident that killed at least one person. UNLESS the pickup driver is a police officer, in which case the other drivers will be cited for "failure to take evasive action", like the grandmother Policeman Gabe Q. killed while he was texting.

Wait...wait...what?? Isn't there a law or ordinance or something about texting while driving? When will this all stop? Car manufacturers need to install anautomatic kill sensor in the vehicle to disallow any phones or gadgets to work while driving. My condolences to the family of the person who died, and I sincerely hope the idiot who caused the accident is charged. Take responsibility, people. STOP texting and driving!!!
