SABINAL, Texas -- A two-year-old boy was attacked and killed by a pit bull in Uvalde County over the weekend.

The attack happened on Saturday in Sabinal, about 60 miles west of San Antonio. Police say Isaiah Aguilar chased a balloon into his next-door neighbor's yard and was attacked by the dog. The yard was not fenced, but the dog was tied up.

The boy was taken to a hospital in Uvalde where he died.

The dog is currently in quarantine. It will be up to a judge to decide the dog's fate.

An investigation is underway to determine if the pit bull's owner will face any charges.

kirky07 How about looking in the mirror for an irresponsible poster. Guess you've been under a rock when it comes to realizing that typing in all caps is the equivalent of screaming. It also makes you look a little looney.

Just so we are clear...I love my pitties. I love all animals. But will never, ever agree that responsible ownership of a dog is having one on a chain. If having a dog on a chain is the only way you can have one, doing have one. And I love children and I hope that thru education and responsibility accidents like this won't happen again. RIP little one

IRRESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM!!! DID NOT REPORT THE WHOLE STORY!!! WHERE WERE THE PARENTS, WHY IS THE DOG/DOG OWNER TO BLAME? HOW DID THE CHILD GET OUT OF THE HOUSE ON THEIR OWN? YOU ARE NOT ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS PERTINENT TO GOOD REPORTING, WHO, WHAT, WHEN, AND WHERE...MOST TIMES WILL NEVER KNOW THE WHY!!! BAD NEWS 4...VERY VERY BAD. THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS THAT PIT BULL TYPE DOGS ARE BEING CONDEMNED TO DEATH IS BECAUSE OF NEWS STORIES LIKE THIS THAT FEED THE FEAR AND CREATE STEREOTYPES. YOU CAN TURN THIS AROUND BY REPORTING SOME GOOD STORIES FOR A CHANGE. YES I'M AWARE THAT FEEL GOOD STORIES DO NOT GENERATE AS MUCH MONEY NOR DO THEY GET YOUR NAME NOTICED AS MUCH AS BAD STORIES BUT WHY NOT BE THE ONES WHO RAISE THE BAR OF RESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM?

Any dog has the potential to kill a 2 year old. Within just the past few months a Parsons Russell Terrier in England caused the death of a toddler with one unfortunately placed bite to the childs throat. While I don't like the idea of a dog tethered, a 2 year old child has no business being unsupervised. An awful situation all around.

No trooper, I say shoot the parents and get the dog the help he needs. You on the other hand should be in line with the parents.

Makes me absolutely irate, The parents should have full responsibility for this. It's like breaking into someones house, stabbing yourself and suing them for attempted murder and winning.

This is the fault of two people: 1) The parents of the child--where the hell were they? I'm not saying parents have to watch every move of their child, but if he/she is young enough to wander off and get into serious trouble, then they should be adamant about knowing the child's whereabouts. 2) The owner of the dog--I don't care if it's technically "legal" in your state, chaining up your dog is a form of cruelty. Dogs are social animals and pack animals; therefore, just like us, they NEED to be around other animals or people. No good comes from chaining a dog outside, it can become aggressive, lonely, and is more likely to attack a person than a dog who is properly raised in a home. Unfortunately, the only one to PAY for this child's death is the dog (and the child). And here goes the media, undoubtedly excited that the dog was a pitbull, so they can further perpetuate the myth that ALL pitbulls are vicious. This is a completely tragic story, not only because a child died, but because the ones who should have been held accountable will not pay for their actions.

It's such a shame that we cannot ban irresponsible parents. Who leaves a two year old by themselves inside and ESPECIALLY outside? Seems far too young to play by himself. Poor child. :(
