There’s a lot wrong with this article and the responses to it…first of all, @Phrilly, there is NO mention of him “being beat up on a daily basis.” When the child said he had been “bullied” that word can now mean anything from someone disagreeing with you, to name calling. The phrase is as over used as the idea that “it takes a village to raise a child” which is hogwash. It takes parents, paying attention to what’s happening, and being responsive. The “gun” they describe in the article is probably an AirSoft gun, and of course the child should not have taken it to school. It can cause quite a sting on bare skin, but unless you’re shot in the eye with it, it probably wouldn’t cause much damage. It’s not, however, a “toy.” Having clarified that, the final bit of stupidity is in the last two sentences of this article. “…no specific threats were made, and no one was injured.” “The boy now faces a terroristic threat charge.” How stupid is that? Back in ancient times, when a child brought something to school that they knew was prohibited (sling shots come to mind) the teacher confiscated it, and gave it back at the end of the school year. Terrorist threat? Totally stupid.

I didn't know that "toy" guns were considered weapons.

Both comments show stupidly..no one here is to blame but the parents. Why should the teachers and school be held accountable . Find the fruk!!! Parents of these bullies and fined them. And for the kid that brought the gun..he needs a good azz whipping. As a parent show your children it’s not ok to bring toy guns to school.

What a knee jerk reaction this school system had. Where were they when this kid was being beat up on a daily basis. They said no one told them about it. Where were the teachers? Other students? Any adult that was around. Why didn't they report it? Why didn't the family report it? If this 6th grader is expelled then the bully that made him eventually do this needs to go with him. We have to take a proactive stance with bullying. Parents, teachers, adults, doctors etc. etc. need to make the call. This could have ended much worse than a BB Gun although they can cause injury as well. I hope this child gets counseling and I think the school system needs to pay for it.

Poor Baby..I know it's not the right thing to do..but sometimes as a kid you don't think right and He obviously was fed up..Where are his teachers and parents that don't notice the bullying all his life..There are some teachers that really put a blind eye to this and they shouldn't because this affects them the rest of their life...
