SAN ANTONIO -- A woman was struck and killed as she tried to cross Highway 90 Thursday morning.
The accident happened around 7:10 a.m. Thursday in the eastbound lanes of Highway 90 near Military Drive. Police say the woman was trying to run from the Lackland side of the highway to the other side when she was hit.
A 45-year-old man driving a gray Dodge Avenger told officers he was traveling behind a black Dodge pickup truck in the left lane when the truck came to a sudden stop. The driver said he swerved into the center lane to avoid hitting the truck and immediately spotted a woman run out into the center lane in front of his car. The driver told officers he slammed on his brakes but was unable to stop in time.
The woman died at the scene.
No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
