SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio Police arrested the biological father and stepmother of a 5-year-old boy who was found dead in a southeast side home Thursday afternoon.
Charleston Williams, 25, and Crystal Williams, 27, are both charged with injury to a child. Police said the medical examiner found five-year-old Josiah Williams had signs of abuse, malnutrition and neglect. The medical examiner found the child had bruises all over his body and had injuries from multiple falls over the last several days and the couple had not sought medical attention for the boy, police said. By the time paramedics arrived at the home Thursday afternoon on Gayle Ave. near Fairlawn, the boy had already died.
Crystal Williams was crying as she was lead out to a police car in handcuffs Friday evening.
"I don't know, I love my kids!" she cried, when News 4 WOAI asked what happened to Josiah.
"It was just one complete, total accident. The only place where we failed to do anything was we failed to render aid," Charleston Williams said. "I didn't think it was that bad and that was my mistake. I have to live with that now. To all of my family, I'm sorry, I love all of y'all. I'm sorry."
Child Protective Services now has custody of two other children who were in the home, a two-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy, according to police.
