KAUFMAN, Texas (AP) - An assistant district attorney has been fatally shot as he walked toward his workplace at a North Texas county courthouse.

Investigators believe Mark Hasse, 57, was targeted by two members of the Aryan Brotherhood, because Hasse was investigating the group for a possible court case.

Kaufman County spokeswoman Pat Laney says Hasse was walking across the parking lot behind the courthouse annex Thursday morning when he was shot multiple times.

Laney says Hasse was taken away in an ambulance but did not know if he died at the hospital or en route.

Investigators are searching for two suspects believed to have fled in a brown or silver older model Ford Taurus.

Laney said a $10,000 reward is being offered.

We must pass a law immediately to ban gangs. The guns didn't do it by themselves, they had to have the gangs. If we ban gangs, problem solved.

The problem with your theory 210bro is that gun sellers aren't in the insurance game. When you go buy a car does the dealer offer full coverage?Nope. And cars are pretty dangerous. When you buy cigarettes at the conv. store does Mohammed expect you to fork over insurance money at the time of purchase? Nah. You think the bad guys will pay 10 grand to own a gun. You're suffocating the people out there who haven't done anything wrong. England did that a long time ago I believe. So our forefathers boarded leaky ships and set sail. While I applaud you stepping forward with an idea, it's not a very good one. We need something else.

If anything this just makes gun control even more paramount. Guns are so dang cheap you could buy one for $100 bucks. That means any two bit criminal just has to come up with $100 bucks and some gumption and he's in business. But what happens when guns aren't being produced, and tack on a $10,000 injury bond/policy to own it? That $100 gun will increase in value 10 fold as well as the cost of ownership. It turns into an asset for the gun owners, and makes it more expensive for punks to buy. win-win in my opinion.

Its like this J C 1st they will take away the rifles ...Then them Demos will work on getting the pistols. After they get them there going to leave you with a shot gun that only holds 5 rounds while the non law abiding perps have the semi auto guns that hold 20 bullets or better. Better get used to the New world order...with President Money bags in charge

Yeah go ahead and ban assault rifles and high capacity magazines. This is just an example of criminals not caring what the law says. Oh yeah and once again just like Newtown, Oak Creek, Virginia Tech, and Gabby Giffords none were shot with assault rifles. All were shot with handguns. So why the push to ban assault rifles????? Becauseits going to stop idiots from killing people. What a bunch of Einsteins????????? Ladies and Gentlemen your elected officials.......................

No doubt. If you think criminals "aren't supposed to attack at this level" then you must be the one who thinks that criminals will check their firearms at the door when walking into a gun free zone....dumba__
