SAN ANTONIO -- Two women died early Sunday after police say a drunk driver hit a car head-on on Highway 90.

According to police, the women were in a Lexus driving eastbound on Highway 90 when a woman driving a SUV drove over the center guardrail and hit the car head-on.

The women, later identified as 48-year-old Corinne Hollingsworth of Round Rock and 68-year-old Raquel Cooney of Lubbock, were pronounced dead at the scene around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.

The driver of the SUV was injured and taken to University Hospital. She faces two counts of of intoxication manslaughter, officials said.

Sorry, @JJTX99 and @LindaB…the problem IS NOT alcohol or drugs. The problem is that the penalties for abusing those substances is too lenient. This woman had two previous DWI, and was still driving. Actually, I tend to agree with @CommonSense77, including their tongue in cheek reference to banning cars. I think that when you are arrested for suspicion of DWI, your car is impounded. If you are convicted, that car is sold at auction and the money goes in to a fund for the victims of those driving drunk. First conviction you get a minimum of one year jail time…no exception.

No, LindaB, we don't ban alcohol or bars. I think we should ban cars, or at least make it much harder to get them. Plus, they should be built with tiny gas tanks. At least that way, nobody could drive drunk very far. OR --- we could just hold the people who do wrong responsible. But then, that wouldn't really be the American Way, would it?

Alcohol needs to be BANNED. They murder innocent people in our city every single week!! They should have to PAY for the FUNERALS AND HOSPITAL BILLS of all their innocent victims!! And, if he was at a BAR drinking....CLOSE DOWN THE BAR...PERIOD.
